Stamp Fairtex Set for Atomweight MMA Title Defense Against Denice Zamboanga

In a groundbreaking event for ONE Championship, Thai superstar Stamp Fairtex is gearing up to defend her ONE Women’s Atomweight MMA World Title for the first time at the promotion's historic on-ground debut in Qatar. The highly anticipated bout is set to take place at ONE 166: Qatar in the renowned Lusail Sports Arena on Friday, March 1.

Stamp secured the coveted gold at ONE Fight Night 14 last September, delivering an impressive performance against “Hamzzang” Ham Seo Hee to claim the title vacated by longtime atomweight MMA queen “Unstoppable” Angela Lee. The 26-year-old sensation, who already held the division’s Muay Thai and kickboxing belts, made history by becoming the first-ever three-sport ONE World Champion with a third-round TKO victory.

Stamp Fairtex, a global fan favourite, gained even more popularity with her historic triumph, showcasing not only her exciting fighting style but also her loveable personality. On March 1, she will make her inaugural defense of the ONE Women’s Atomweight MMA World Title, facing a formidable opponent who knows her game intimately.

Stamp's friend and former teammate, Denice “The Menace” Zamboanga, will be her challenger. The two fighters trained together daily at the Fairtex Training Center in Pattaya during 2019 and 2020, rising through the ranks side by side. Zamboanga, who made her promotional debut during that time, secured three consecutive wins and emerged as one of the division’s most promising rising stars.

Although Zamboanga faced setbacks with consecutive decision losses to Ham, she rebounded with back-to-back victories, earning her the #2 spot in the women’s atomweight MMA rankings. Her well-rounded skill set and intimate knowledge of Stamp’s fighting style add an intriguing element to this upcoming championship battle.

Beyond being training partners, Stamp and Zamboanga shared a close friendship, often seen together after training sessions. However, as they prepare to clash for the World Championship at Qatar’s Lusail Sports Arena, sentiments will be set aside.
