So Yul Kim: What to know about the South Korean MMA fighter

So Yul Kim is a South Korean MMA fighter. Over the course of her career, she has competed in Kickboxing and MMA across multiple promotions including MAX FC, Just Challenge, and Double G FC 11 among others.

She has also been a part of ONE Warrior Series and holds an MMA record of 7-1 to her name.

The start of Kim’s combat sports career dates to 2016 when she started competing in kickboxing. Kim made her MMA debut in 2017 at the JUST Challenge event and secured a win.

It was in 2018 that she stepped into the ONE Warrior Series platform. The debut, however, was a forgettable one for her as she suffered a decision loss to Nyrene Crowly. The South Korean, however, bounced back strongly in the same year when she got a decision win over Yuko Kiryu at ONE Warrior Series 4.

She backed this up with another win at ONE Warrior Series 8 where she defeated Satomi Takano.

The loss to Nyrene Crowley is currently her latest loss in MMA and the South Korean MMA star has not lost a fight since that.

ONE Friday Fights 7 victory

Kim returned to the ONE platform recently when she fought at ONE Friday Fights 7.

The 27-year-old battled Souris Manfredi in an MMA contest at atomweight and put up a masterful performance.

In the opening round, the South Korean deftly locked in a guillotine choke that put the Thai to sleep and pinned Manfredi to the ground. The previous ONE Warrior Series champion won with ease, improving her overall professional record to 7-1.

Kim will now try to create waves in the competitive atom weight MMA division, which is currently dominated by Angela Lee, the current divisional champion, Stamp Fairtex, ranked #1, and Ham Seo Hee, ranked #2.

She might not be prepared to battle against those top competitors just yet, but a matchup with Tiffany Teo, who is rated #5, might be forthcoming.
