It’s not often that a World Champion gets the chance to add another shiny strap to their collection, but ONE Lightweight Kickboxing World Champion Regian Eersel has shown he is worthy of being a two-sport champ.
“The Immortal” will take a brief break from kickboxing this weekend when he steps into the Circle for his first Muay Thai match in four years.
He fights Sinsamut Klinmee for the inaugural ONE Lightweight Muay Thai World Championship on Saturday, 22 October, at ONE Fight Night 3: Lineker vs. Andrade at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

While Eersel is facing a foe that has dropped his last two opponents, the Dutch-Surinamese superstar is unfazed and eager to challenge himself.
“I’m going to dive in. We're going to play fire-with-fire. And we will see which one of us at the end is still burning. I am thinking that we aren’t going to make it to the fifth round,” he said.
The Sityodtong Amsterdam athlete currently holds a professional record of 58-4, with 25 of those victories earned by knockout. What is even more impressive about the 29-year-old is his 19-fight winning streak and the fact that he hasn’t lost a single fight in six years.
Known for his step-in knees and powerful hooks within the Circle, Eersel will be tested in new ways against Sinsamut. The Thai shocked the world when he knocked out Nieky Holzken at ONE X this past March, and impressed fans yet again when he did the same to Liam Nolan at ONE 159 in July.
While Eersel’s accolades speak for themselves, the Amsterdammer is intrigued by the matchup and wants to demonstrate how far he is willing to go to build his legacy.
“I am confident, just because I am confident. It’s just the way that I train, the way that I think, the way that I have my life. Also, my team that is around me only surrounds me with positive energy. They help me build my confidence as well. You can see the results with six years of being undefeated. So, that has made me who I am today,” he said.

“Life is a challenge. My career, my legacy, these are all challenges. Without challenging things, you don't live. I like to challenge myself in certain ways, so I can look back when I am older and be proud that I did that. I want to be a good example for my kids and tell them, ‘Look, Daddy did this because of this, and in this life you have to challenge yourself.’ And that’s what I am doing right now.”
