Indian boxer Nishant Dev continued his undefeated run in the professional circuit with a dominant technical knockout (TKO) victory over American LaQuan Evans on Saturday night in Frisco, Texas.
The 24-year-old Super Welterweight overwhelmed the more experienced Evans with a flurry of unanswered punches in the sixth and final round, forcing the referee to stop the bout at 1:58 of Round 6. The victory marks Dev’s third consecutive professional win, all by knockout.
The bout was part of the undercard for the WBC-WBO super flyweight unification clash between Jesse Rodriguez and Phumelela Cafu.
Dev, a 2023 World Boxing Championships bronze medalist, turned professional earlier this year after narrowly missing Olympic qualification with a quarterfinal loss to Mexico’s Marco Verde. Since then, the Haryana-born fighter has made a fast impression with knockout wins over Alton Wiggins in January and Josue Silva in June.
Now training under former pro Ronald Simms and signed with Matchroom Boxing, led by promoter Eddie Hearn, Dev is quickly emerging as one of India’s top boxing prospects on the global stage.
