Contract Dreams On The Line As Pompet Faces Decho In 2026 Opener

ONE Championship's 2026 journey begins with two hungry Thai strikers battling for the ultimate prize: a US$100,000 contract and main roster promotion when Pompet PongSuphan PK meets Decho Por Borirak in the ONE Friday Fights 138 main event on January 16.

The flyweight Muay Thai showdown at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok pits veteran experience against youthful aggression, with both fighters knowing a spectacular performance could transform their careers overnight.

The 27-year-old PK Saenchai Muaythaigym representative has accumulated seven promotional wins with four finishes, building momentum with a recent second-round TKO of Scottish fighter Gregor Thom where his powerful right hand produced three knockdowns.

The experienced striker has conducted thorough preparation for his younger opponent, identifying opportunities he intends to exploit.

"Decho is a dangerous brawler with a massive engine. He likes to throw high kicks, so I'm ready to slip and counter those. Also, when he throws knees, I noticed his left guard tends to drop. That's an opening I'm definitely looking to exploit with my boxing," Pompet analyzed.

With contract implications weighing heavily, Pompet aims to deliver the kind of finish that leaves no doubt about his main roster credentials.

"It's going to be a banger. If I see an opening, I want another highlight-reel finish to boost my chances for that ONE Championship contract," he stated emphatically.

The 22-year-old Decho represents the hungry young challenger seeking his breakthrough moment.

With 48 career victories and three promotional wins, he understands that defeating the veteran Pompet would significantly strengthen his contract case.

Decho arrives with game planning while maintaining readiness to engage in the type of brawl that could produce highlight-reel moments.

"If there's an opening to trade, I'm game. But I'll be playing it smart and following the plan. We've worked on my left and right strikes to catch him as he comes in, or even beat him to the punch," Decho explained.

The younger Thai fighter has set a clear objective for 2026, and this main event represents his first opportunity to achieve it.

"My main goal for 2026 is to secure that ONE Championship contract," Decho declared.
