The 2022 Kerala State MMA championship is all set to happen at Aayugaa – Traditional Care Centre in Calicut. The event will happen on 15 and 16 October 2022 and will see fighters from across the state of Kerala competing.
The event is sanctioned by the All India Mixed Martial Arts Federation (AIMMAF) which is affiliated globally with the Global Association of Mixed Martial Arts (GAMMA). The competition will happen under the Sub-Junior, Junior, and Senior categories. MMA and Striking MMA disciplines will also be on display at the event.
What is striking MMA?
Striking MMA is a discipline which was introduced by GAMMA. It aims to provide an easy transition for traditional martial artists into MMA.
The rules are simple to understand because they cover all of the common mixed martial arts moves, with the exception of ground and pound moves. Athletes are still permitted to take down their opponents on the ground, and they have a maximum of 30 seconds to complete the takedown before they are forced to tap out. The boxer who was saved by 30 sec. the rule receives a point docked equivalent to a knockdown in stand-up.

Referee and Judges Seminar to happen during the event
The event will be hosted by Blacktigers Fitness and Team Warriors. The event will also be supported by Turtles Fitness, Lucca Media and LockerRoom India among others.
Indian MMA star, the first-ever Super Fight League Welterweight champion Syam Prasad, and former International Kickboxing medallist Praveen Raj will lead the proceedings at the event. A referee and judge seminar will also be hosted ahead of the event.
The theory part of the seminar will be hosted on the first day of the Kerala State MMA Championship and the practical for the workshop will happen on the second day of the championship.
