The finalists for BRAVE CF 2022 Fighter of the Year, one of BRAVE Combat Federation's most prestigious prizes, have been revealed. This time, the BRAVE CF gladiators made it difficult for the audience by having a large number of celebrities provide persuasive arguments for why they should be named the promotion's top fighter for 2022.

BRAVE CF Brad Katona, the bantamweight champion, put many detractors to rest by proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that he rules the division. To gain and keep the 135-pound belt this year, Katona handled his business with decisive victories over Bahrain's Hamza Kooheji and his training partner Gamzat Magomedov.

Marcin Bandel, a former third-ranked Super Welterweight, wasted no time this year. Prior to shocking the world with an amazing armbar against fan favourite and number-two ranked Super Welterweight Ismail Naurdiev to win the vacant BRAVE CF 175-pound title, the Pole defeated Brazil's Luis Felipe Dias by unanimous decision.

Brazilian Joilton Lutterbach arrived and started the concert off with a bang. His first memorable performance came when he was brought in as a last-minute replacement to face Marcel Grabinski, a former top-ranked Super Lightweight from Germany. In the opening round of their BRAVE CF 61 main event battle, Lutterbach stopped Grabinski using blows, demonstrating right away that he is more than simply a filler fighter.

After TKOing the dangerous Moldovan Mihail Cotruta in the opening round of their BRAVE CF 68 match last year, he then delivered a stern warning to Eldar Eldarov, the undisputed Super Lightweight champion.

When Asu Almabaev of Kazakhstan achieved three victories (one stoppage and two decisions) in 2022, he served as a reminder to BRAVE Nation followers of why he is destined for great things in the BRAVE CF Flyweight division. Fans across the world demand all-out action from him, and his most recent victory against Kenneth Maningat of the Philippines by rear-naked choke underscored his intentions to rule the 125-pound category and claim the vacant title.

Last but not least, Chad Hanekom of South Africa persuaded everyone that he would never again let a title shot slip through his fingers. Hanekom has been on a mission to reclaim his title as the supreme fighter in the 185-pound weight class since losing the BRAVE CF Middleweight title in South Africa.

This year, he returned with a vengeance, dominating Mateusz Janur over the course of three rounds until the deadly South Korean In Jae La was dispatched by the number-two-ranked South African with a massive "hellbow" at BRAVE CF 66 in November.

FIGHTER OF THE YEAR nominees:

  • Brad Katona
  • Marcin Bandel
  • Joilton Lutterbach
  • Asu Almabaev
  • Chad Hanekom
