Colombia is poised to take the centre stage in the realm of combat sports on August 12, 2023. This significant date marks the climax of the inaugural BRAVE Pan American Combat Week, culminating in the highly anticipated BRAVE CF 73 main event after several days of intense competition in the IMMAF Pan American Championship.

Throughout this eventful week of spirited competition, festivities, and international attention within the sports community, Colombia will once again shine brightly on the global sports calendar, cementing its place as a hub of sporting excellence.

Reflecting on its history, Colombia made headlines in the 80s for hosting the 1971 Pan American Games and the 1982 FIBA Basketball World Cup. However, the nation faced a notable turning point when it withdrew from hosting the 1986 FIFA World Cup, a decision that shifted the tournament to Mexico. Since then, Colombia embarked on a journey to reclaim its prominence and reassert itself in the international sports arena.

In 2001, Colombia proudly hosted the Copa America for the first time, a significant achievement that witnessed the national team clinch the coveted continental cup with a triumphant 1-0 victory over Mexico in the final held in Bogota.

A decade later, in 2011, Colombia extended its hospitality as the host of the FIFA Under-20 World Cup. Although the national team did not seize the title, facing elimination by Mexico in the quarter-finals, the tournament remained an influential chapter in the nation's sports history, with Brazil ultimately emerging as the victors.

In 2016, Colombia welcomed the FIFA Futsal World Cup, a vibrant event that unfortunately saw the host team exit the competition in the initial knockout stage. However, neighboring Argentina secured their first title, showcasing the competitive spirit of South American nations.

Now, Colombia stands ready to command the spotlight in the realm of Mixed Martial Arts. The BRAVE International Combat Week 2023 is set to gather over 110 athletes from across the Americas, competing fiercely in the IMMAF Pan American Championship. Additionally, numerous elite professional athletes from around the world will converge in Bogota to showcase their skills within the BRAVE CF 73 cage.
