Alex Pereira set to learn English from Sean Strickland

The intense rivalry between Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira captivated both fans and professionals, keeping them on the edge of their seats. While Adesanya had consistently emerged victorious against "The Last Stylebender," Pereira faced defeat in their most recent encounter. However, the rivalry extended beyond Adesanya, as Pereira also sought to overcome language barriers by learning English, with the help of an unexpected ally – one of his former rivals.

In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, the Brazilian fighter announced his intention to learn English from Sean Strickland during their training sessions together in Connecticut. Despite Helwani's cautionary remark about Strickland being a bit eccentric, Pereira warmly welcomed his ex-rival.

During his conversation with Helwani on 'The MMA Hour,' Pereira discussed his rivalry with Adesanya before revealing that Strickland would be joining him in Connecticut to prepare for his upcoming fight. Pereira stated, "Sean Strickland's coming to Connecticut next week for one week to train with me for his next fight."

Pereira also expressed his desire to learn English, stating, "I'm going to learn English with Sean Strickland." Helwani seemed taken aback by the choice of Strickland as Pereira's language mentor and questioned whether Pereira was comfortable with it.

In their previous middleweight bout at UFC 276 in 2022, Strickland and Pereira displayed tremendous power and skill right from the start. However, Pereira swiftly connected with a powerful left fist, knocking out Strickland in the first round.

Strickland is scheduled to face Abus Magomedov on July 2, 2023. According to the former middleweight champion, Pereira, known as "Tarzan," will train with him in Connecticut. Furthermore, the "Poatan" has begun preparations for his upcoming bout against Jan Blachowicz at UFC 291.
