Ukraine wins 10 medals at the Under 22 European Boxing Championship

The Ukrainian boxers finished with 10 medals at the Under 22 European Boxing Championship last day in Croatia. The team won 2 Gold Medals, 3 Silver Medals, and 5 Bronze Medals in their campaign.

The gold medals came thanks to Yuri Zakhariev in the 71 KG category when Carolina Mahno also clinched gold in the 75 KG category. Andriy Efimovich, Ivan Soap, and Maxim Vlasyuk secured silver medals in their respective weight categories when Elmir Nabiev, Vasil Tkachuk, Olga Shalimova, Sabina Novosad, and Olesya Krisyuk won bronze medals. Gold Medal Winners:

Silver Medal Winners:

  • Andriy Efimovich (48 kg)
  • Ivan Soap (86 kg)
  • Maxim Vlasyuk (60 kg)

Bronze Medal Winners:

  • Elmir Nabiev (54 kg)
  • Vasil Tkachuk (+92 kg)
  • Olga Shalimova (48 kg)
  • Sabina Novosad (52 kg)
  • Olesya Krisyuk (81 kg)

Earlier, the boxing community had helped the Ukrainian boxers to compete at the championships by providing logistical and financial support.

"We are in constant communication with the Ukrainian delegation, German Boxing Federation (DBV), and other members of the boxing family to make sure that athletes have the opportunity to compete at the EUBC Under-22 Championship," said Istvan Kovacs, secretary-general of the IBA prior to the tournament.
