UFC 249 has taken yet another major blow after Rose Namajunas has been ruled out of her co-main event fight against Jessica Andrade due to undisclosed reasons. The news was initially reported by Combate and it was later confirmed by multiple media sources.

The withdrawal of Namajunas would be a big blow for the UFC who have been attracting a lot of criticism for putting together UFC 249 amidst the coronavirus outbreak. The promotion had announced the fight card for the pay-per-view a couple of days back with the Interim Title fight between Tony Ferguson and Justin Gaethje headlining.

The plan was to have the rematch between former championship Namajunas and Andrade as the co-main event but now, Dana White will have to find a short-notice opponent for Andrade.

Andrade’s team noted that they are willing to fight anyone and insisted that she is not going home without a fight irrespective of the weight class.

These two first fought at UFC 237 back in May where Andrade defeated Namajunas to become the UFC Strawweight champion. Andrade was later defeated by Zhang Weili for the belt in August.

It would be interesting to see how UFC manages to steer through the same and find a replacement for Namajunas.
