Wrestling will prove mightier than striking: Ritu Phogat on fight with Bi Nguyen
11 May 2021Ritu Phogat goes up against Bi Nguyen at ONE: Dangal on May 15, 2021. The Indian MMA star is riding high on a four-fight winning streak at the moment having won all her fights in ONE Championship.
Interestingly, Ritu will be fighting Nguyen ahead of her ONE Atomweight Grand Prix showdown with Meng Bo at ONE: Empower. Speaking to ONE Championship, Ritu noted that she is confident of getting a win and added that wrestling will prove mightier than striking when the fight happens.

“Bi’s stand-up game is very strong. Her mixed martial arts career has been better, too. She has tons of experience. She had the chance to fight with top-five [athletes] in the world, but I have put in lots of hard work. I’ll say wrestling?is going to prove mightier than?striking. You will all get to see how a wrestler turns superior on a striker. You will see improvement in my striking,” Ritu said.
She also went on to add that winning against Nguyen is important for her.
“When I enter the Circle, I do not see whether my opponent is a World Champion or whatever her level of achievement may be. I try to give my 110 percent inside the ring so that when I step out, I don’t have any regrets. To fulfill my dream of winning the Grand Prix, it is very important to defeat Bi, and I wish to fulfill it step-by-step and proceed toward my goal. I’m not at all overconfident, but yes, I’m fully confident that I’ll win this match. Losing is not an option for me,” she concluded.

ONE: Dangal will be broadcasted in India on Saturday, 15 May 2021 from 3:30 PM IST onwards. The event will be on Hotstar or Star Sports Select 2.
