Indian MMA star Rahul Raju will be making his ONE Championship return this weekend at ONE: Full Circle when he fights Drex Zamboanga of The Philippines.
The Kerala Krusher is coming into the fight on the back of an impressive submission win over Otgonbaatar Nergui at ONE: Battleground II and will be looking to continue his good run. Speaking to ONE Championship, Rahul noted that he is hopeful of getting a submission finish against Drex.
“I think the fight is going to go on the ground in the beginning. Maybe in the middle of the first round, I can make a submission or a ground-and-pound attack and win. To be honest, I don't want to finish them early. I plan to finish him in the second or third round. I want to fight more on this matter, but in my view, this match is going to end soon,” he said.
While predicting a first-round submission finish, the Indian went on to add that he has utmost respect for Drex.
“I don't want to give them any message. I respect him, he is a very good fighter and my match with him will be a blast, for which I am fully prepared. I hope he has prepared himself well,” he added.
Drex will be coming into the fight with a professional MMA record of 8-5 to his name and is on a two-fight winning streak at the moment.
