Rahul, who trains out of O-Sports Association of India, is a 5-time National Gold Medallist in Kickboxing and a 1-time National Gold Medallist in Karate. Under his coach Tej Vir Singh, he has also secured a Gold in the International Kickboxing Tournament which was held in Nepal.
Primarily focussing on Wushu, Kickboxing and MMA, Rahul was attracted to combat sports from sixth standard when he got a chance to watch Manoj Chauhan and Narendra Grewal fighting on Television.
“When I started the fight, my family used to stop me from playing these games. They were afraid that I might get injured in this game. And when I started getting medals in this game, my family started supporting me more,” Rahul says.
He also feels that one should balance studies along with sports as education is equally important as the sport. Although he is struggling a bit with finances for his diet and practice, he is going strong and wants to make the nation proud and bring more medals to the country.
