Former American Kickboxing Academy (AKA) Jiu-Jitsu coach Leandro Vieira believes that Khabib Nurmagomedov would return to MMA if Charles Oliveira beats Islam Makhachev.
Charles Oliveira and Islam Makhachev seem to be on a collision course at the moment with the UFC Lightweight title being vacant. The Brazilian last day noted that he is willing to take the fight with Makhachev if the money is right.
Makhachev, on the other hand, made it clear that his goal is winning the UFC lightweight title irrespective of who he is fighting against.
Vieira, in his interview with Sherdog, noted that if Charles manages to beat Makhachev, Khabib would come out of retirement to avenge the loss.
“If Charles beats Makhachev, I truly believe that Khabib would return to avenge him,” he said.
He also went on to add that Khabib has what it takes to beat Israel Adesanya at Middleweight. The Brazilian was reacting to the recent comments that Ali Abdelaziz made and agreed to Khabib’s manager that he can easily take out Adesanya.
“Definitely Khabib has the recipe. He is technically and mentally superior to Adesanya. From what I’ve seen him doing in the academy, I have to agree with Ali (Abdelaziz),” he said.
Khabib has been retired from MMA for a long time now and has been busy with his projects outside fighting in the meantime. He has found success as a promoter with Eagle Fighting Championship and at the same time, Khabib has also found success as a coach.
Makhachev and Oliveira, on the other hand, have been on impressive winning streaks in the UFC and are likely to lock horns sooner or later.
