Indian MMA fighter Kartikay Kaushik picks up dominant first-round win in Vietnam

Indian MMA fighter Kartikay Kaushik picked up a dominant first-round finish against Trinh Than of Vietnam at the Lien Phong Fight Night in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on December 26, 2020.

Kartikay, who hails from Haryana, was making his Mixed Martial Arts debut after transitioning from Wushu. Fought under the semi-pro rules, the fight did not last long as the Indian was able to finish with a TKO stoppage via ground and pound.

He is currently training out of Vietnam and underwent a rigorous weight cut as well ahead of the fight. Prior to his transition to Mixed Martial Arts, Kartikay had a solid run in Wushu as well which saw him pick up Bronze Medal at the AIIU competition and a Silver Medal in the Federation cup among other accolades.

The Lien Phong Fight Night was organized by the Lien Phong Training Center and had a string of exciting showdowns as well.

After the event, the training center thanked all the fighters that competed at the event through a social media post on their Facebook Page. The team also noted that such events and fighters will help to spread the Martial Arts culture in the Vietnam community.
