2019 IMMAF-WMMAA World Championships Day 1: Team India Roundup

The 2019 Edition of IMMAF-WMMAA World Championships kicked off in Bahrain today and the day saw four Indian fighters in action.

Athul Hotker went up against Haddi Mounir of France in the Lightweight category first. The fight went the distance and it was Mounir that took home the judge’s decision with a score of 30-27, 30-27 and 30-27

Elsewhere, Balakrishna Patange suffered a similar defeat against Abdou Toure of France in the Welterweight Category. The fight between Balakrishna and Toure went to the judge’s scorecard and it was ruled in favour of the Frenchman. The scoreboard read 30-26, 29-28, 30-27.

Karan Nitin Chauhan suffered a submission defeat against Ahmed Gazimagomedov of Russia in the Featherweight category. The Russian managed to lock in a kimura in the second round which resulted in the win.

The last fight of the day for India featured Vaibhav Shetty going up against Adis Saljevic of Sweden. The fight ended in a first round TKO in favour of Saljevic who will now progress to the next stage of the Middleweight Category.
